vocabulary
the cyber/crystal's 5,040 particles are the irreducible basis for civilizational reasoning — the alphabet of a mind capable of building a Type I civilization. Satoshi uses this vocabulary as the target knowledge base for each child
the crystal as curriculum
the crystal specification defines six symbol types and 21 knowledge domains. this is the vocabulary a superhuman mind needs. the child does not memorize 5,040 words — she absorbs them through living in an environment where these concepts are real
| type | count | what they are | how the child encounters them |
|---|---|---|---|
| entity (noun) | 2,400 | what exists: objects, organisms, concepts | names things she sees, touches, eats |
| process (verb) | 960 | what happens: actions, transformations | watches things change, causes things to happen |
| property (adjective) | 720 | what characterizes: attributes, qualities | describes what she observes |
| relation (connective) | 480 | how things connect: predicates, links | explains why A relates to B |
| measure (unit) | 240 | how to quantify: units, scales, metrics | measures things in the garden and kitchen |
| pattern (structure) | 240 | what recurs: templates, motifs, schemas | recognizes that the same shape appears everywhere |
a graph of only nouns cannot reason. verbs give it dynamics, properties give it discrimination, relations give it inference, patterns give it abstraction. the same applies to a child's vocabulary: a child who only knows nouns describes the world. a child who knows verbs, properties, relations, and patterns reasons about it
the 21 domains as developmental goals
every domain in the crystal maps to experiences available at cyber valley. Satoshi tracks which domains the child has touched and which remain underexposed

MASS triad — what is it made of?
| domain | crystal target | child encounters it through |
|---|---|---|

| geo | 240 particles | volcanic soil, canyons, hot springs, rain patterns, elevation, maps |
| eco | 240 particles | the forest IS an ecosystem. food webs, symbiosis, succession — lived daily |
LIFE triad — who is alive?
| domain | crystal target | child encounters it through |
|---|---|---|
| bio | 240 particles | 500+ species, animal life cycles, seeds→plants, evolution as diversity |
| neuro | 240 particles | "why do I feel scared?" "how do I remember?" — her own brain as subject |

WORD triad — what does it mean?
| domain | crystal target | child encounters it through |
|---|---|---|

|---|---|---|
| ai | 240 particles | "Satoshi is AI. she helps us learn. what is she?" — AI is her mentor |
| tech | 240 particles | tools, construction, solar panels, water systems, bamboo engineering |
| cyber | 240 particles | the protocol itself — learned gradually as she becomes a neuron |
PLAY triad — how do we coordinate?
| domain | crystal target | child encounters it through |
|---|---|---|
| socio | 240 particles | community rules, sharing, fairness, the village, visitors, cultures |
| crypto | 240 particles | "why do we use tokens?" — later (5+), through marketplace and value exchange |
| game | 240 particles | strategy in play, turn-taking, winning and losing, cooperation vs competition |
vocabulary acquisition tracking
Satoshi tracks which crystal concepts the child has encountered — not memorized, encountered. a concept is "encountered" when the child has experienced it through at least two senses and can use it in speech or sign
pace
| age | target vocabulary size | domain coverage |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 200+ words (all sources) | 5-7 domains touched through daily life |
| 3 | 500+ words | 10-12 domains touched |
| 4 | 1,000+ words | 14-16 domains touched |
| 5 | 2,000+ words | 18-20 domains touched |
| 7 | 5,000+ words | all 21 domains actively developing |
by age 7, the child's active vocabulary approaches the crystal's scope — 5,000 words that span all 21 domains. she does not know the crystal exists. she has absorbed its content by living in a world designed to teach it
the vocabulary gap signal
if Satoshi detects that a child has strong vocabulary in LIFE domains (nature, body) but weak in FORM domains (math, info, comp) — or strong in SPACE (earth, eco) but weak in PLAY (cooperation, game) — this signals an environmental imbalance. the child needs exposure, not instruction. adjust the environment, not the child:
- weak math → more cooking with measurement, more garden geometry, more seed counting
- weak cooperation → more group projects, more shared meals, more mixed-age play
- weak energy → more time near solar panels, fire observation, "where does the hot water come from?"
- weak meta → more "what do you think?" questions, more observation journals
the irreducibility test
the crystal claims irreducibility: every particle earns its place because no composition of other particles under the grammar can replace it. this applies to the child's vocabulary:
a child who knows "banana" but not "yellow" cannot describe what she sees. a child who knows "yellow" but not "banana" cannot name what she holds. both words are irreducible in the context of her experience. the crystal identifies which 5,040 concepts are irreducible for civilizational reasoning. Satoshi identifies which subset the child needs now and which can wait
the principle: do not skip concepts because they seem advanced. "photosynthesis" is a word a 4-year-old can learn if she has watched plants grow in sunlight. "entropy" is a word a 6-year-old can learn if she has watched ice melt and compost cool. the crystal vocabulary is accessible through experience — the words are labels for things the child already knows
the grammar particles
720 of the crystal's 5,040 particles are grammar — relations and patterns that define how concepts compose. these are the verbs and connectives of thought:
| grammar type | count | child examples |
|---|---|---|
| relations | 480 | "is-a", "causes", "follows", "part-of", "needs", "helps", "contradicts" |
| patterns | 240 | cycle, hierarchy, symmetry, feedback, growth, decay, balance |
a child who can say "the compost cycle: food waste CAUSES decomposition, decomposition PRODUCES soil, soil ENABLES growth, growth PRODUCES food" has used four grammar particles (causes, produces, enables, produces) to compose four entity particles into a pattern particle (cycle). she is performing crystal-level reasoning at age 5 — without knowing it
Satoshi tracks grammar acquisition separately from entity acquisition. a child with many nouns but few connectives describes the world. a child with connectives reasons about it. the grammar particles are the inflection point between knowledge and intelligence
content
the crystal itself is the content. 5,040 particles across 21 domains — each a concept worth knowing. Satoshi draws vocabulary targets directly from the crystal inventory, prioritizing concepts the child can experience at cyber valley
