cybics
the mother science. cybics is the convergence of cybernetics, physics, mathematics, and information theory into one discipline — the unified science of cyber
cybics teaches the child one thing: the same three operators run everything. diffusion explores, springs hold, heat adapts. gas and brains and markets and ecosystems and the cybergraph — all run the same three processes on different substrates. the child who sees this pattern everywhere has the operating system of a Type I civilization
the core insight
classical science proves by derivation: axioms → rules → theorems. cybics proves by simulation: run the system, watch what converges, the convergence IS the proof
a protein does not derive its shape. it folds until it reaches stability. a market does not derive the price. agents trade until equilibrium. the cybergraph does not derive what matters. neurons link, the tri-kernel converges, and focus emerges. proof by simulation escapes the Goedel prison because the prison only confines derivation
the child already proves by simulation every day: she plants a seed, waters it, waits, watches it grow. the growth is the proof. she does not derive that cooperation works — she cooperates and observes the result. cybics names what she already does
the three operators — everywhere
at planetary scale, any algorithm requiring global recomputation for a local change is physically impossible. apply locality as a filter and only three operator families survive:
diffusion — explore
| substrate | what diffuses | what the child sees |
|---|---|---|
| gas | molecules wander | steam spreading from the cooking pot |
| forest | seeds disperse | dandelion seeds in the wind |
| brain | neural noise, free association | "I just thought of something random!" |
| economy | trade, meme spread | news traveling through the village |
| cybergraph | probability flows through links | cyberank — what the network attends to |
the child's experience: wandering the forest without a plan and discovering something unexpected. that IS diffusion — exploration without direction
springs — hold
| substrate | what holds | what the child sees |
|---|---|---|
| crystal | atomic lattice | volcanic rock has structure — atoms in rows |
| skeleton | bones, connective tissue | "my bones hold me up" |
| ecosystem | food webs, symbiosis | "the bee needs the flower, the flower needs the bee" |
| rules | contracts, agreements | "we take turns — that is the rule" |
| cybergraph | graph Laplacian | focus concentrates on well-connected knowledge |
the child's experience: building a tower and it stands. following a rule in a game and it works. the garden sustaining itself. springs are wherever structure resists chaos
heat — adapt
| substrate | what adapts | what the child sees |
|---|---|---|
| metal | annealing — heat then cool | the blacksmith heats iron to shape it |
| metabolism | body temperature regulation | "I sweat when I run — my body cools itself" |
| seasons | ecosystems cycle | wet season → dry season → wet season |
| emotion | arousal modulates attention | "I am scared so I notice everything" |
| cybergraph | heat kernel smooths across scales | zoom in = detail, zoom out = global pattern |
the child's experience: a hard problem gets easier after she walks away and comes back. stepping back, cooling, returning with broader perspective. that IS the heat kernel
the 21 domains
seven triads cover all knowledge. each triad: three inseparable aspects of one layer of reality
| triad | question | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| FORM | math (proof) | info (bit) | comp (step) | what are the rules? |
| MASS | quantum | chemo | energo | what is it made of? |
| SPACE | cosmo | geo | eco | where does it happen? |
| LIFE | bio | neuro | sense | who is alive? |
| WORD | lang | spiri | meta | what does it mean? |
| WORK | ai | tech | cyber | how is it made? |
| PLAY | socio | crypto | game | how do we coordinate? |
7 questions. 3 aspects each. 21 irreducible domains. the crystal seeds the cybergraph with these as the foundational ontology. Satoshi's 19 child domains map onto these 21 — the child absorbs the crystal structure through experience before she knows it has a name
progression
explorer (0-2 years)
the child lives inside the three operators without naming them:
- diffusion: she wanders, touches everything, explores without plan
- springs: she builds towers, follows routines, expects consistency
- heat: she cools down from tantrums, adapts to new environments
Satoshi tracks: does the child balance all three? too much diffusion = random and unfocused. too much springs = rigid and routine-bound. no adaptation = melts down at every change
builder (2-5 years)
cross-domain pattern recognition:
- "the water flows downhill just like the ants follow the trail" — same pattern (flow)
- "the tree holds the treehouse just like the rules hold the game" — same pattern (structure)
- "the compost gets hot then cools, just like I get angry then calm" — same pattern (adaptation)
the game: "what is this like?" — finding isomorphisms across domains. every time she says "this is like that" across two different substrates, she is doing cybics
target by age 5: spontaneously makes cross-domain analogies
maker (5-7 years)
naming the pattern:
- "there are three things that happen everywhere: exploring, holding, and adapting"
- identifies which operator is dominant: "the seed spreading is exploring. the web holding is structure. me getting used to cold water is adapting"
- systems thinking: "the garden works because exploring, structure, and adapting all happen together"
- convergence: "when I practice and it gets easy — that is convergence. the guitar string does it. the price at market does it"
- conservation: "energy does not disappear — it changes form. the food became my running"
target by age 7: names the three operators in daily situations, explains why a system needs all three, gives examples of convergence and conservation
the universal isomorphisms
| concept | nature | body | cyber | what the child says |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| network | mycelium connects trees | neurons connect in brain | cyberlinks connect particles | "everything is connected through networks" |
| feedback | predator-prey cycles | hunger → eat → full | observe → link → rank → observe | "what comes back around affects what happens next" |
| convergence | ecosystem reaches balance | body temperature stabilizes | focus stabilizes | "things settle into a pattern" |
| conservation | matter cycles through food web | energy in = energy out | Σπ = 1 always | "nothing is created or destroyed, just moves" |
| emergence | flock from bird rules | consciousness from neuron firing | egregore from cyberlinks | "the whole is something the parts could not do alone" |
| self-organization | crystals form without instruction | wounds heal without commands | cyberank emerges without authority | "order appears by itself when conditions are right" |
the free energy connection
the tri-kernel fixed point minimizes a unified free energy:
$$\mathcal{F}(\phi) = \lambda_s E_{\text{spring}} + \lambda_h E_{\text{heat}} + \lambda_d D_{KL}(\phi \| D\phi) - T \cdot S(\phi)$$
the weights emerge as Lagrange multipliers — not designed, derived. the solution is a Boltzmann distribution: the canonical ensemble from statistical mechanics, applied to knowledge
intelligence is a dissipative structure — stop the energy inflow and coherence collapses. the child who eats, sleeps, and plays is maintaining a dissipative structure. the cybergraph that receives cyberlinks and compute is maintaining a dissipative structure. same thermodynamics, different substrate

people: Norbert Wiener — named cybernetics. saw that thermostats, brains, and governments obey the same feedback laws. story: so absent-minded he forgot he moved house, but saw connections nobody else could. Ilya Prigogine — discovered that order emerges from chaos when energy flows through. won the Nobel Prize. story: everyone thought disorder always increases. he showed that life is disorder creating order. Karl Friston — discovered the brain minimizes surprise. everything the brain does is one process: reducing the gap between what it expects and what it gets. story: the simplest theory of the mind, and it explains everything
