- name from bambu / gesing that once dominated the hills — agreed by villagers and tokoh
- ~1930: two Kelian Banjar Dinas (Tengah · Delod Pempatan), ~150 KK
- 1954: ratified as Desa Dinas Gesing (Bupati Ida Bagus Mahadewa era)
- first perbekel Wayan Kumita (1954–1967) — SD Gesing I (1956), Jembatan Tukad Cangkup, Pura Dalem / Subak

places & character
highland village on the Banjar–Munduk belt — cooler air, mist, coffee/clove dryland, edge of protected forest toward Sanghyang / Batukaru massif. Munduk (tourism) sits next door; the south coast tourist machine is hours away. roads are steep and often damaged; trails run into Batuka forest. quiet by Bali standards — that is the point.
