the agent

what cy is

cy is the mind over a neuron's book. the neuron and its cybergraph exist without cy: a book holds files, links, tokens and focus and speaks no language of its own. neural is what can be said over the book. cy is what says it: it reads, decides, proposes, speaks, keeps and holds, and it is the only thing in the stack that is smart.

three things follow.

• the book needs identity, never a mind. cy is optional to a book and never a dependency of it.
• the language needs a book, never an agent. a dialect is defined without cy and executed by it.
• a person at a shell can stand where the mind stands. cy reads the same soul, asks the same ward and writes the same signals as a model does.

the boundary

cy works over ssh with no display. an organ that needs a screen, a camera or a speaker belongs to cyb, which is cy with a body: the eyes, the ears and the pictures. the other side of the line is the stack below: cy depends on the book and the language and on nothing above; no organ of cy may require soft3 to be reachable to start (the wire is optional, the book is not).

the minimum agent

the smallest cy that is an agent and not a wallet or a database, in the order it comes alive:

1. a key and a name: a neuron with its vault sealed under a secret.
2. a declaration: a soul naming a model, the dialects it may speak and what it may do unasked; ward enforces it.
3. an input: com, one line with completion.
4. a mind: soma answers a question over the book, calling a model through glia, and links the answer back.
5. a signal out: voice forms it, sense sends it.
6. a balance and a history: sigma shows what the agent holds, log records what it did.
7. a next move: seer proposes the cyberlink worth making; plan holds the standing orders.

where each stands today is in anatomy. the inference path (steps 3 to 4) and the vault, log and body are live; the soul as a file, sense as a full inbox and voice as a signal former are to build.

the standard reflexes (proposed)

an agent that must be programmed before its first useful day is not an agent. cy ships with a set of reflexes, rune cells the owner may replace or extend:

• a new file arrives: classify it, link it to the words it means.
• a question is asked: read the soul, ask soma, link the answer.
• an epoch closes: collect the tickets the body mined and settle them.
• a follow arrives: answer with the address record.

the set is not built. its shape is a contract the neural dialects must be able to express.

open

• soma may become a product of its own when it can run over a book that has no cy in it; the ladder then gains a rung between the language and the agent, and cy becomes the self that signs.
• ward is enforced by cy today; whether "what may be done" is itself a dialect of neural is undecided.
• the code home: cyb/cli and cyb/crates/cyb/src/bin/cy.rs until the specs settle.
