the domain of perception and embodiment. sense is where the world enters the mind: light hits a retina, pressure bends a hair cell, a molecule docks on a receptor. before any computation, before any language, there is raw contact between an agent and its environment. qualia — the redness of red, the burn of heat — are the irreducible first-person data that no third-person description captures

for cyber, sense is the interface layer. every particle in the cybergraph was sensed by some agent before it was linked. cameras, microphones, chemical sensors, human eyes — these are the neurons at the edge of the graph. the protocol's neuron concept abstracts over sensory sources: a human linking a photograph and a satellite uploading spectral data are the same operation. cyb as an interface is a sense organ for the graph — it renders particles into visual, textual, and auditory form for human consumption

scope

modalities — vision, hearing, touch, taste, smell, proprioception, thermoception, nociception, equilibrioception. each modality has dedicated receptors, pathways, and cortical areas. the graph must handle all of them: images, sounds, chemical data, spatial coordinates

perception — pattern recognition, figure-ground separation, depth, color, aroma, music, emotion. raw sensation becomes structured experience through neural processing. predictive coding says perception is controlled hallucination — the brain predicts and the senses correct

embodiment — the body as the medium of sensing. muscle contractions, workouts, proprioception, interoception. an agent that senses must have a body (or a sensor array). robots and IoT devices are artificial sense organs for the graph

qualia — the subjective quality of experience. the taste of cinnamon, the sight of sunset, the feel of heat. qualia resist reduction. they are why a superintelligence that only processes symbols is incomplete — it must also receive the world directly
