  • instructions
    • prepare the base (per person):
      • in a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup oats and 1 cup of liquid (water, milk, or a mix of both)
    • add dried fruits, prunes/apricots/goji berries/mixed (optional)
      • chopped
      • soaked for a ~~5 minutes in hot boiling water
    • add turmeric (optional):
      • stir in 1/8 teaspoon turmeric for added flavor and health benefits.
    • start cooking:
      • bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
    • simmer the oats:
      • once the mixture starts to boil, reduce the heat to low.
      • simmer the oats for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they reach a creamy consistency.
    • check consistency:
      • for a thicker oatmeal, cook a minute or two longer.
      • for a thinner consistency, add a splash of water or milk and stir.
    • serve and garnish:
      • transfer the oatmeal to a bowl.
