your share of the sun

every energy future written so far is a rationing plan. burn less, insulate more, divide a shrinking pie more fairly. the argument is always about the size of the slice. cyberia proposes a different question: what if the pie is a star, and the deed to it is open — earned by anyone who helps build it, priced from the day the ledger opens?

the state called Sun

in the space doctrine a celestial body is a state, its territory is a titled surface, and its token is minted against proven presence. the Sun's territory on the ledger is the real photosphere — the star's own surface — the base layer of a build that proceeds outward as layered collectors, not a one-shot shell at one astronomical unit:

that is the number next to the Sun on cyberstates (~6.08 T km²). about twelve thousand Earth surfaces. the purest object of a future economy: a claim priced today on a star whose first layer is the light-emitting surface itself, with further layers earned as the swarm is proven.

the dividend

take the whole thing seriously for one calculation. a mature layered swarm still aims at the Sun's full output, $L_\odot \approx 3.83\times10^{26}$ W — power is set by the star, not by which radius hosts the collectors. divide power and photosphere territory among eight billion people, equally, one share each:

power per person      =  3.83×10²⁶ W / 8×10⁹  ≈  4.8×10¹⁶ W  ≈  48 petawatts
territory per person  =  6.082×10¹² km² / 8×10⁹  ≈  760 km²

about three-quarters of a thousand square kilometers of solar surface per person — a province of light, not a continent of vacuum shell. this is a yardstick, not a delivery date: full capture, no losses, and an equal split that will not actually happen (the deed section says why). the equal split sizes one part in eight billion of one ordinary star. and at that size the power numbers stop meaning anything familiar:

  • it is roughly 2500 times the power the entire human civilization uses today — one person commanding twenty-five hundred present-day humanities.
  • it is about 28 percent of all the sunlight the whole planet Earth intercepts — one person holding a quarter of the light that falls on the world.
  • it is 48 million gigawatt reactors running for you alone, or eleven megatons of TNT every second, forever, or the energy of annihilating half a kilogram of matter each second.

a civilization each

the Kardashev scale measures a species by the power it wields, $K = (\log_{10}P - 6)/10$. all of humanity today sits at $K \approx 0.73$ — not yet a Type I planetary civilization. one person holding one share of the Sun's power sits at

above Type I. one share of the Sun's power already outweighs the whole of humanity today — that is the worth of a single part in eight billion, and one ordinary star holds eight billion of them. who comes to hold how many is the honest question, and the deed answers it.

the deed is earned, not issued

a star is not owned by planting a flag on it, and it is far too large to hand out by decree — or by charity. the dead part of every utopian energy story is the equal envelope: eight billion people, a dollar each, a pot split evenly. that is not what happens. most never chip in. some fund, build, prove, and design, and those are the ones the ledger pays. ownership follows contribution — the Shapley share of the focus you moved, the stake you locked, the proof you brought — amplified by how early you arrived, because a pioneer's claim vests when the first proof lands. the early and the committed carve the largest pieces. this is not the flaw in the vision; it is its engine, the thing that funds a swarm nobody is obligated to build.

what cyberia changes is not the fairness of the outcome but the openness of the entry. the conventional frontier costs a hundred-billion-dollar launch program, so the star would be carved among whoever owns the rockets. here the entry is a one-dollar stake and a cyberlink. location proof lets a share of the Sun be owned before a single collector flies; foculus prices and quotes the solar economy across the light-minutes to Earth; the mint tracks the grounding coefficient, so the dividend grows exactly as fast as the layers are proven and no faster; and the simulation of the swarm — designing it, dividing it, playing the economy forward — is itself work the ledger rewards in its speculative dawn. the deed still follows the work, but the work is open to anyone, priced from day zero, and grounded by proof rather than granted by fiat.

the conventional future asks how to share less. this one makes no promise of an equal slice of the Sun. it promises something more honest and more alive: the star is ownable from its real surface outward, the deed is open, and it goes to those who chip in and build — from the day the ledger opens, long before the light is caught. not scarcity administered, and not charity dispensed, but a frontier whose title anyone can earn.
